Proposal: Meteor Bakeoff

As discussed in the “Disable or scale-back meteors” thread, it may be time to revisit the ongoing natural disaster and terrain erosion that is the meteor system. As a reminder, the status quo is that meteors are up to space master discretion. If none of the following proposals pass, I intend to make no changes, pending further discussion.

If at most one of these proposals passes, then meteor rates become part of the Charter, and we can change them again in future proposals as needed. If multiple proposals in this batch pass, I’ll apply them in the order listed below - the most extreme meteor setting that passes will be the one that takes effect.

I submit the following proposals:


Title: Meteor Bakeoff - No Meteors
Adoption Index: 1.0

Amend article 9.9 (“Challenges & Limitations”) by, in order:

  1. Removing any row from the settings table that references the EnvironmentHostility setting; and

  2. Adding a row to the end of the table for the setting EnvironmentHostility, with the value SAFE.

Repeal any rule in article 9 titled “Meteors”.

Amend article 9.9 (“Challenges & Limitations”) by, in order:

  1. Removing any row from the settings table that references the EnvironmentHostility setting; and

  2. Adding a row to the end of the table for the setting EnvironmentHostility, with the value NORMAL.

Repeal any rule in article 9 titled “Meteors”.

Add a rule to the end of article 9, titled “Meteors”, with the text:

The mod “Rare Dedicated Server Meteor Showers”, with a modID of 1561760341, is an official mod.
